Practical tips
In October, Arusha experiences mild, pleasant weather. Temperatures typically range from 16°C to 29°C (61°F to 84°F), making it ideal for both conference activities and outdoor exploration. October is in the dry season, so visitors can expect clear skies and minimal rain. The city’s tropical climate ensures comfortable conditions with plenty of sunshine throughout the day. It's advisable to pack light, breathable clothing and a jacket for cooler evenings.
Visitors to Arusha primarily use the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS) as the local currency. However, US Dollars (USD) are widely accepted, especially in hotels, tourist attractions, and for safaris. It's advisable for visitors to carry some Tanzanian Shillings for smaller purchases and local transactions. Credit cards are also accepted in many hotels, restaurants, and shops. There are several bureaus in Arusha where you can have currency exchange. There is also a KCB Bank at the EAC Headquarters close to the Conference centre where you can have such transactions.
Arusha is generally safe, but as anywhere travelers should take basic precautions such as avoiding displaying valuables, staying alert in crowded areas, minimise the use of your mobile phone while walking on the streets and not walking alone at night in remote places.Keep your valuables in a safe deposit box and ensure your credit cards are always secure.
Lunch, 10am and 3.30pm coffee breaks will be provided.
Please note, all kinds of plastic bags are illegal, and bringing in plastic will be fined. Please be advised to leave plastic bags on the plane before entering the airport.
